A Matching Grant and Other Ramblings

I've just been informed that we have received a $570 matching grant from some Anonymous Angels. When our Reece's Rainbow family sponsorship page total reaches $4106 we will receive it.

We currently have a $50 gift card giveaway going on. For every $5 donation, you can be entered in the drawing for a $50 Amazon, Walmart, Pampered Chef, Starbucks gift card, or even a donation to your fav RR family/child.

So every $5 donation gets you entered in the drawing and will also be matched when our FSP reaches $4106. We will draw for the gift card when our FSP reaches $3750. To enter, just follow the link above, make your donation (in increments of $5), and leave a comment below.  Comments are moderated, so it won't be posted.

In other news, we fly out in 3 days!!!  I've been staying up late (think after 1:30 am), getting up early (kids don't sleep in later just 'cause Mom stayed up late), and running everywhere in between.  I finally got all of our American Heritage Girls end of year awards straightened out and ordered, and have handed over the reins to the other VERY capable leaders.  So now, I just need to finish packing my bags, or rather put everything IN.  Everything I've collected thus far for the trip is piled around my bag at the moment.

Ahhhhh!!! Must get everything done so we can spend quality time with our kids tomorrow before we leave.  The kids have already decided they want to go bowling, have Dad grill out, and finish with a movie night.  Oh!!  And we have to squeeze dying Easter eggs in there somewhere.  ;)

Travel Date Received

Woohoo!  I awoke very early this morning to a much anticipated phone call from our lovely support service coordinator.  We are ready to travel!!!  Our DAP (Department of Adoption Services) appointment is set for Wednesday, April 23rd.  That's in exactly two weeks.

TWO WEEKS!!!!  Eeeeek.  So much to do, and pack, and finish before we go.  I've been trying to get things ready little by little, so I wouldn't have so much to do at the last minute.  BUT, I still have a HUGE list and only two weeks to do it in (actually less if you count in travel time).

We have a gift card giveaway going to help us raise some of our adoption fees.  Be sure to check it out!!  Every little bit helps!!!  Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go shower and run a thousand errands.

Gift Card Giveaway

I am still anxiously awaiting our travel dates.  Someone submitted after us with an expedited petition received their travel dates on Friday.  It was hinted that our dates will be coming out early next week.  I sooooo can't wait!!!  The last date given out was April 16th.  That could mean our travel date will be the week following Easter ... or the week after that.

That means we have about 3-4 weeks until our travel.  Yikes!!!  I feel like this adoption has been dragging out, but in terms of general adoption times, this has been fast!!!  We are still short money for our trip.  Our fundraising thermometer on the right hand side of our blog shows exactly where we are currently at.  My husband just picked up another tree trimming job, but we're still going to be short.

So, in an effort to reach being fully funded, we are offering a giveaway.

Every $5 donation is a chance to win YOUR CHOICE of a $25 gift card to Starbucks, Walmart, Pampered Chef, Amazon OR donation to the Reece’s Rainbow family/child of your choice!!! The lucky winner will be drawn once Margaret’s FSP reaches $3,250!!! Ready, set, go!!!

Go to http://reecesrainbow.org/67922/sponsorthorp to make your donation.  Then copy and paste your receipt into the comment section below to be entered.  Comments are moderated, so it will NOT be posted.

UPDATE:  This giveaway is CLOSED.  The winner is Jennifer L.  Jennifer please contact me for your prize.  Thanks!!

Next in Line

Wow!!  Five adoptive families from our country just received their travel dates.  That means we're next in line to get ours (along with another family submitted the same day as us).  Looking at the dates given out, it's looking like we might either be traveling the week after Easter or the week following that.  We're so excited and are looking forward to getting our official DAP date.  Hopefully, I'll get the call from our family support coordinator within the next week or two letting me know!!!

In the meantime, we are still working on putting together the money for all of the adoption fees.  Our current fundraiser is a Pampered Chef event which ends Tuesday, March 25th.  The consultant is donating a portion of her commission to our adoption grant.  If you are in the need of any Pampered Chef items, please consider purchasing through our e-show to help us bring Margaret home.  Thanks!!

Dossier Submitted

The last few papers from our dossier arrived in country on Sunday, February 23rd.  They were then handed to our in country facilitation team on Wednesday, February 26th.  On Friday, February 28th, I received an email letting me know that our paperwork was submitted to DAP the day before.  Wow!  It usually takes about a week to be submitted once all your paperwork arrives, but it only took us one day.  Amazing!!!  God is good!!  Now we are just waiting on our travel dates.  We should hear something in about 4-8 weeks.

Now that all our paperwork is in, I have time to focus on raising the last of our needed funds.  We have added two new fundraisers (all are listed on our sidebar) to help us in this endeavor.  The Usborne-Books fundraiser runs until Friday, March 14th, and the beautiful hand-stamped metal necklace will run until Wednesday, March 19th.  Please consider supporting us through prayers, purchases from our fundraisers, or a donation to our FSP.  Thank you and God bless!

Count Your Blessings

As I was driving to the postal center yesterday, the chorus of one of my favorite hymns ran through my head.  Matter of fact, it ran through my head several times throughout the day.

Count your Blessings,
Name them one by one,
Count your Blessings,
See what God has done.

I LOVE that song!!  And yes, I know that's just part of the chorus, but that is the part that was on my mind.  One of the first things that ALWAYS pops into my head when I think about my blessings are Baby Bear, Honey Bear, Sister Bear, Brother Bear, and last but not least, Papa Bear.  I'm sooooo thankful for each of them.

The reason for the trip to the postal center was why I thought of the song.  Yesterday was very exciting, and I had lots to be thankful for.

Last week, I received two documents back from being apostilled.  I was going to take them to the postal center yesterday to mail them off to the next family traveling to our country, but decided to check our mailbox before the trip.  Thankfully, I did check it.  The last two documents we need to complete our dossier came back from being apostilled.  Our dossier is now complete and enroute to the country we are adopting from, so we've been moved to the "Almost There" page on the Reece's Rainbow website. So exciting!!

We also received some other sweet blessings this past week and I am so thankful for each of them.  Some of them include our tax return, a sweet lady from RR, a surprise from my husband's company, and two awesome local ladies.  I am just in awe of how God is working in our lives.  Very awesome to watch.
